This one of a kind statement ring was handcrafted with sterling silver and a large Ocean Jasper cabochon hand cut and polished in my studio. This is a highly collectible material and came from Madagascar.
This is "old stock" Ocean Jasper - the material that was first found probably around 10 years ago. The newly found stone is much different and does not have as much of the nicely defined colors and "spots." I remember when this first came out at the Tucson Gem Show - it was everywhere and very inexpensive. Now it is quite scarce and extremely high-priced. I'm finding this is happening with a lot of stone that was once "common."
The cabochon is set in layered sterling silver and a half round ring band. The ring was finished with a soft charcoal patina.
MEASUREMENTS: Ring Size 8. Band is 1/4" wide. Stone and setting measures 1-3/8" tall by 1" wide.
