This one-of-a-kind necklace was created with a rare Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper cabochon that was hand cut and polished in my studio. This stone comes from the Morgan Hill area in California and has not been mined for many years. This stone shows prominent red poppies and a mix of bright colors. I have cut a lot of Poppy Jasper over the years and it's very rare to find such prominent "poppies" in the stone. I feel it's also important to note that the lines in the stone are not cracks. This stone comes from a seismic area in California and the lines in the stones are formed over millions of years due to seismic activity. Although the lines are there, they are sealed and solid. This is a classic characteristic of this stone.
I've set the cabochon in textured sterling silver with accents of 14k yellow gold. The pendant and chain were finished with a soft charcoal patina.
MEASUREMENTS: Sterling silver chain measures 33" long and is finished with a lobster clasp. If you would like the chain shortened, please state so in the notes during checkout. Pendant and stone measures 2-3/8" tall by 1-5/8" wide.
All aspects of the design, including cutting and polishing the stone from rough rock, are created in my studio.
All jewelry includes a hang tag or earring card that includes information on the stones used for your piece and a brief description of the techniques used. Items also arrive gift-boxed and each piece of jewelry includes my maker's mark on either a silver tag or on the back of each piece.
